Early foundations for the verbal behavior assessment and intervention program

The following 6 papers where published between 1977 and 1983, mostly in Western Michigan University's Behavioral Monograph Series. These papers, along with my doctoral dissertation (Sundberg, 1980) demonstrate the evolution of the verbal behavior program that occurred at the Kalamazoo Valley Multihandicap Center and Western Michigan University. I thank my many colleagues who participated in this development (see WMU monograph #6 for a list of some of the participants).

This first Monograph was published in 1977 along with Jack Michael and Norm Peterson, who taught me Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior.

This book chapter (1983) provided a detailed outline of how to use Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior for language assessment. This program was later expanded in Sundberg, 1987 and 1990, then published as the ABLLS (Partington & Sundberg, 1998), and most recently as the VB-MAPP (Sundberg, 2008).

This unpublished book is a revision of my 1987 unpublished book on the application of Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior to language assessment and intervention.  This material was split into two books and eventually published as the "ABLLS" (Partington & Sundberg, 1998) and "Teaching language to children with autism or other developmental disabilities" (Sundberg & Partington, 1998).
